The hamill residence, ballynure
McNeill Architectural Consultancy had secured Planning for a new dwelling and garage for a client who decided to sell the site. This site was adjacent the Ballynure Cotton Mill (circ 1822), sadly destroyed by fire and severely derelict, and nearby graveyard (pre-1600’s), both having a colourful history of the graveyard from the existing Guard House protecting loved ones from “body snatchers” to the Cotton Mill with closure due to the American Civil War.
David & Patricia Hamill had been searching for a site in the Ballynure village and selected this site. They had viewed another client’s dwelling that McNeill Architectural Consultancy had designed and project managed, who had commended McNeill Architectural Consultancy to them. David & Patricia commissioned McNeill Architectural Consultancy to design a family contemporary dwelling on this large rural site which overlooked the Ballynure Water and the Cotton Mill.

David and Patricia give a totally freehand in the design while setting out their internal accommodation requirements and wish-list for external appearance.
The dwelling is accessed through the original lane to the Cotton Mill and on approaching the dwelling the façade is a mixture of natural stone and white rendering and slated roof with a balcony from the main bedroom and first-floor landing to views of the Ballynure Water. While to the rear is ground floor patio area, and also the first floor enclosed patio area to entertain family and friends.

The internal was arrange to ensure there is an abundance of natural light to all rooms and to provide interest to the open stairs and balconies, level changes between family area and kitchen/dining, etc.
The dwelling is complimented by a large detached garage for cars and boat and games room.
On completion of the design, both David and Patricia were impressed as were their friends and family. The dwelling was completed and McNeill Architectural Consultancy were delighted to be commissioned for this project, for both design and Project Management.
